Nope, I'm in NC. Easy to get plenty of guns, and have plenty. I'm just taking a more practical, realistic, survivalist approach to the whole scenario. There are a few concepts to consider when surviving any kind of siege, particularly against an enemy like the undead:
1) There is no intimidation. Bigger, louder guns don't scare them off, or even scatter them. Noises attract them, actually. 2) There are no reinforcements coming. What you've got is what you've got, and the idea is NOT to use it all up. 3) If it's far enough away that you need to use an AR-15 hit it, it's far enough away that you shouldn't be bothering it--especially with loud noises. 4) Rifles are designed to do damage to internal organs (as the round rolls around in the body). The Undead don't have them. And counting on headshots is a fool's game--even specially trained marksmen wouldn't bank on it. ONLY a headshot will get the job done if you're using a rifle--they wouldn't even have stopping power, as they'd pass right through that death-softened tissue before imparting enough energy. 5) If you're having to shoot at all, chances are you've done something wrong that day. If you're having to shoot that far and that often, there is likely a huge flaw in your defensive plan.
I like the .22 because it's powerful enough to get the job done, but quiet enough not to draw more attention--especially with subsonic rounds. Ammo is FAR more plentiful than anything else, and with a pistol and rifle I'd only have to worry about one kind of ammo. I'd keep my other stuff around for the eventual HUMAN scavengers, but only then. If the zombies are getting close, but not in range, that's when you use decoys to lure them off again.... and if they're closing in, it's time to EVACUATE--not try to outlast an enemy with no need for supplies. You'll end up just going down in a blaze of misled glory.

Where would you hide, why, and what advantages would that location give you?
I'm in South Texas.
We get everybody who has a gun (i.e. everybody) and put em up on the roofs of Texas A&M.
Some study actually stated that Texas A&M is one of the most defendable campuses due to the insane number of 4 floor buildings we got on campus.
We have nuclear reactors, so power is no problemo.
Anyway, fortify the university, form a caravan, and drive to Ft. Hood.

hmm, I'm loving these plans as I like in the UK, guns are a big no for the general public . I actually can believe non of you have thought of this. the attic of your house. only one way up which you can open and shut. if this went as planned, we wouldn't have to fire a single shot. plan one: so, upon hearing of the infection (I'm assuming I would have about an hours prep time, at least) I would grab the phone, and a my mate and his uncle would come round, with any supplies, machete, pistol, nun-chucks, giant blades and so on (his uncle is an ex-marine) in this time I would of cleared the attic and moved as many supplies up into the attic. I would of also glued/welded/nuclear bonded a pipe from an eternal tap (no zombie tripping over it and pulling it off) to the attic. my wind up radio, a house phone and laptop with modem (there are plugs up there, I'm sure) would be moved up there too. when they arrive and I have done that, say, 15 mins has gone by. 45 mins to go. me and Josh (my mate) would go to my nan's (next door) and stock up on alcohol (she has like, a small warehouse full) and lug it back. alcohol is great for Molotov's and the like. his uncle would run down to the supermarket and stock up. then we'll kick back, crack open a beer and relax plan 2: Find a sniper, a bottle of vodka, a roof, a cowboy hat, lots of bullets and an mp3 player. anyone who has seen the second resident evil movie (RE: apocalypse?) will know what I'm talking about

I think I just thought of the simplest one ever:
Do like Andy Samburg and Get On A Boat.
Zombies cannot swim, therefore you're good to go.

One problem. Okay, several. Limited food, limited water, sun overexposure, weather. When you eventually have to return to shore for supplies, the Z's will be waiting.

Food: no problem. MREs, packaged food, fishing, growing food, etc. Water: Use boiler steam or just boil water period. Added advantage of salt collection (meat preservation). Sun Exposure: Stay in the cabin or something. Put tarps over the deck, that kind of thing. Weather: Stay in calmer waters when shit hits fans. Electricity: Boiler/Solar Panels

Space is limited, so you won't be able to grow much and still be able to move around efficiently. You can lose your fishing gear. If you can garuantee that you will never have energy problems, boiling water is fine. Except, can you repair a boiler, solar panel, stove, or a hot plate? These things do break occasionally and eventually. You can't control where you will be when the weather gets bad. A bad storm can come out of nowhere.

Meh. You can form sort of an off shore city, if you will. Hydrophonics allows for growing food in limited space. You can create a large amount of space on floating pontoons; In China (Hong Kong, I think), they are building an entire entertainment on three large floating islands. I also direct you to this article ( http://www.turkishweekly.net/news/37070/mexican-trio-back-after-10-months-lost-at-sea.html ) . You can also create a solar oven. Ya, weather can get bad, but you can go up a creak or in a lagoon or something... you might get lucky and the hurrican season just ended.

It doesn't end well. And there's a lot of IF's, MAYBE's, and luck involved with the weather.

Yeah, I'd probably be screwed. We have got an attic, but, no plug sockets up there. Also, no guns, so, melee weapons would be a must. Got a couple cricket bats and a spade in the shed, along with some other long handled garden tools. Hmm... reminds me of shaun of the dead, lol.

*raises hand* Ooh ooh! I have one! Get this, I live on an island. Like an actual, legit island. There are two bridges to get onto my island, a swingspan, and a causeway. First order of business, open the swingspan. Now that side of the island is barred, and I can always close the bridge if I need to drive off. Second, remove a section of causeway. Easier said than done, but I'm fairly certain given the sheer volume of fruit-picking type machinery on my island, I could crash SOMETHING into it big enough to take out a section. Best part: island has plenty of edible beasties, which I already hunt, along with my own yard which has chickens, ducks, goats, peacocks, and an assortment of other eatables/eatable producers. Besides that I have a large garden, and seed stocks for several seasons, and I already own a plethora of weaponry due to my families general hick-ish nature. The lagoon my island is located on is a part of the intercoastal waterway, so I have access to the ocean for escape, and a number of boats at my disposal, including 2 sailboats which don't even need fuel... as for various supplies, we have a well with a pump, a water purifier for camping I could use for anything like that, and dozens of miscellaneous camping dealies which would be invaluable in a zombie apocalypse. ...bring it on undead hoards...

It's called South Tropical Trail. If the ZWar happens, I'm leaving college and heading straight back there. +BONUS, it's across the river from an Air Force Base, and EVEN BETTER, about 10 miles from NASA
