Title: My (soon to be) Pride and Joy
Post by: Cazzums on June 09, 2011, 01:16:27 AM
To keep this short and sweet, as many know the nerf Crossbow is the most BAMF blaster there is. I have recently been able to dig my claws into a stock one and wish to mod the living hell out of it! All I've been able to find for mods is a wall of text(without an AT2K integrated in it). Are there any decent video(s) of mods done to these to help me better understand?

Of course, you could also commission new internals from Louiec3, as seen here. (http://www.nerfrevolution.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1550)

You lucky man you! Been looking for one casually for a while now. One blaster I really want.

I too would love to have a crosbow just to make my collection complete.

But as I learned last night, my swarm fire can already shred hoards of zombies i Swiss cheese, so I think I'll stick with this one for a while.

However, I wish you luck with your work. Hopefully youl makes something out of the supposedly (never used one cant say for my self) nerf gun in existence.

reading for like 2 and half hours last night over guides about this, i have come to a conclusion that ill need abit of PVC,CPVC, a new spring, rubber washer(maybe), another O-ring, lithium grease, Epoxy, glue+gluegun, and some steel plating for reinforcements. seeing as i already have half the list, what spring would be recommended from what you know? so many say arrowstorm, k26,BBB,#19,etc.
and YES i will be posting pictures for this.

Have you thought about using sheet aluminium instead of sheet steel? It's lighter and easier to use, but it's still very strong.

From what I've heard, the k26 is the spring of choice if you can get them.

I know that the +bow (which is based off the Crossbow) uses a full length K-26 spring. I got mine off of McMaster Carr for $10 for 5. Best deal i've seen on them.

Pretty sure a standard crossbow would use a K25. Split said something about it a WHILE back.

besides having to buy a k26 from someone like a commission is there a site that sells them?(doesn't commission much...)
I've finally decided upon a color scheme/paint job for it, and a pretty good idea of how to mod it. since i've splurged on this and cannot afford a LnL to match, i bought an iron man mask to paint the same way too.

When I posted originally I totally spaced on the fact that McMaster was already mentioned:

Here's a direct link to the place to get k26 springs to save you some Googling (http://www.mcmaster.com/#9637k26/=cofkf1 (http://www.mcmaster.com/#9637k26/=cofkf1)).  They only sell the springs in 5-packs, but you could definitely more than make your money back by selling off the extras to other modders.  Otherwise, cut to proper lengths they're great in a wide variety of applications.  It's money well spent.

lol jut found out another place. http://modmansnerfhardware.auctivacommerce.com/Default.aspx

i should be expecting the crossbow and the spring in about 10 days...maybe 14. modding could take 2 days, maybe an hour. but once i am done i'll be ready to take pics, kick butts, and splatter zombies.

Yeah, already had posted about where to get a K-26. Best deal i've found for them too.

For the love of god, go slow and do it right. This is not something you want to rush.

Yeah, you don't want to throw all that money down the drain by not being careful. Even if it takes you seemingly forever to do, slow and steady wins the race nerf.

looks like I need a nurse for a job this serious. or atleast someone with crossbow experience ;)
I've searched on the haven and I only get either people who don't know WTF they're doing, or they seem waaay too sketchy to trust this to. all the pro's/vets seem to be too busy or haven't replied yet.

but anyways I just got cleared payment through for it and they're shipping it from the UK soon.

From the UK? Damn.
How much did it set you back, minus the shipping?

Title: Re: My (soon to be) Pride and Joy
Post by: Cazzums on June 10, 2011, 08:22:54 PM
with shipping, about 213$US
without 170$US

Man, you are so lucky to be getting the greatest nerf blaster of all time.

I suppose that's not too bad for a crossbow. I heard that a new in box crossbow recently went for $320 on ebay... quite an investment

Title: Re: My (soon to be) Pride and Joy
Post by: Newbs on June 11, 2011, 06:08:39 AM
Damn, so still over £100 :P

Title: Re: My (soon to be) Pride and Joy
Post by: Cazzums on June 11, 2011, 12:59:30 PM
this wasn't included in the lot i recently bought. The blaster, stock(without arrows/arms) was the cost alone. the lot i bought was super cheap(had a LS, magstrike, recon, maverick, and spectre. 25$ ALL stock/complete)

as for luck, yes I cannot tell you how excited and grateful i am for this thing. it has everything i like/look for in a blaster.

update: just recieved affordable Lock 'N Load to match the crossbow! really excited! ;D

Post by: Cazzums on June 16, 2011, 06:17:29 PM
just recieved the CROSSBOW!!!1!
i got to say i cant stop grinning looking at this beauty! the listing for it said it was only the crossbow, no arms, darts,or arrows. but it came with the bow and all that! seems the reason he didn't list the arms was because they had a break in the middle of them :-\  glad to have all the pieces though! i just shot these huge darts that came with it(mega darts) and they're going easily 40-50+ft PTG. angled for sure is getting the backyards fence! arrows go about 10ft. less but damn does this pack a punch! its smaller than i though so carrying will be easier than expected! i will ppost pictures tonight when its not soo damn sunny out... ;D

Get ready to replace the plunger head. Both of mine have broken. They're a bitch and a half to fix.

Title: Re: My (soon to be) Pride and Joy
Post by: Cazzums on June 16, 2011, 08:00:03 PM
from how it shoots stock, it seems perfectly fine. a little rattle from the plunger rod, but i cant mod it till i get enough funds to pay for new internals/reinforcement/PVC for rebarreling. fathers day is coming up so thats why i'm strapped ATM(not even mentioning Xbow cost)

My friend blue from NH has quite a few crossbows with replaced internals ready to go and I think you could talk to him and maybe trade your crossbow and a bit of cash for one. I can send you his E-mail address via PM.

Split is selling replacement kits over at NH. He has a paypal system set up, which you don't have to be a member to use.

I love modding xbows, so many possibilities.  If you have any questions, I've modded something like 6 of them now, I'm all ears.

So far, needs some PJ cleanup, reinforcement+new spring, and some simple brass and its perfected! no integrations whatsoever and so far it can shoot whistelers about 75flat, 85angled.
