Are you still having errors and broken pages?
2  Boring Stuff / Tech Support / Forums Database Issues on: October 16, 2014, 08:47:20 AM
Been a rough week for the forums. Sorry about the downtime. Our SQL database has been having a fit. I just fixed most of thee corruption in the data base and moved the forums to a different server.

You'll see that things should get more stable and run faster.
3  Boring Stuff / Tech Support / Re: Suggested Improvements to HvZ Source?! on: October 06, 2014, 12:45:48 PM
We just got chat fixed. It was an issue with one of the patches for Nginx that we implemented after the Shellshock vulnerability.

As for removing moderators, we perilously did not implement that. There was a problem in our previous system with rogue moderators removing all of the other mods and taking over the game. If you need to remove a mod, we ask that you contact us.

We have waivers on our todo list. Development has been very slow recently as most of our time is dedicated to Slap .45 as we get that out the door.

Just some things that myself as well as the players noticed during Lindenwood University's game last week.

  • Chat seems to be broken for both sides. I know it worked in previous games, but neither side seemed to work for anyone, moderator or player alike.
  • An option to turn a human player into a zombie player without forcing a name for the tag would be nice. We have a fairly honest player base, and sometimes tags don't get reported, even though the person tagged has already been participating as a zombie.
  • An option to remove moderators as players but still be treated as players in regards to emails being sent out. As far as I know, CC'ing the moderators doesn't actually do anything for getting them the message, and I know I don't receive any of the messages I send. Since our moderators don't play, we remove them from the player count to get a little better idea on numbers.
  • *Insert moderator dreams for hvzsource website that I've posted half a dozen times previously here, including waivers on signing up and an email-styled inbox for moderators*
4  Boring Stuff / Tech Support / Re: Spam Filter Malfunction MegaThread! on: September 22, 2014, 08:32:42 AM
Thanks for approving my post so quickly. What I see on the thread's print page, the thread's reply page, and my profile now matches what I see in the thread.

For future reference, are posts marked as spam are supposed to remain visible to, and editable by, the poster? (Hence the "weird issue" when mine didn't, right?)

There are several users on this thread who have been repeatedly false-positived by Akismet - and usually for quite informative posts, too! Have ham reports been submitted as appropriate after each false positive?

This is the first case that I've seen posts get merged into post. Anyway, to answer your question, this is the system to report a false positive. I check this thread whenever I jump on the forums. I'd rather have a few false positives a month than the thousands of spam posts that we get Smiley.

I just approved the post that was flagged as spam and edited some of the merged in information. That's a weird issue. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

The above post is still marked as spam, on my screen at least.

No it's not Smiley. It will always say that it's spam with a URL like that (see the /spam,true.html#new) part.

I do find it slightly clumsy to navigate around without have quick links to rules and stuff instead of scrolling continously down until i find what i need.

Also has merch gone for good or am I being a bit daft?

We're still figuring out how we're going to handle merch. Right now, there is a crappy merch page on http://humansvszombies.org/merch.

Hey guys!
We just launched the kickstarter for our new table top slapping game! If you're interested in picking up a copy or helping us get it printed, please feel free to back it. We'd love your help Smiley.

9  Boring Stuff / Tech Support / Re: Are we losing members on the forums? on: August 18, 2014, 08:20:18 AM
Many of these are spammers and our spam system seems to be doing it's job.

I wouldn't worry.

-MINOR CONCERN-

so just thought i would say this, but are we losing members on the forums?

when i registered for the forums, i was the 3612th member (i have a picture) but just today, i looked and saw there are only 3581 members...

so my question, is this a bug, or are we just losing people?

Just thought i would mention this.

Kellan Jett is our new illustrator. He really is badadss! I'm glad that some of you like it (and it's ok that some don't).  I'll pass this feedback onto the rest of the crew.

We really wanted to turn the page into a microsite and did a complete re-branding. The Gnarwhal Studios site  got a face lift as well Smiley. We're in the process of ramping up for the kickstarter of our new game Slap. 45. Oh, and we didn't mean to cut off the dbag clause. We're fixing a bug there.

The homepage got a facelift.

First off- woah! That leading art piece is sweet. Who's the artist?

I'm going to miss the old chibi zombies, but the design of this page is very well laid out. (The D-Bag clause is cut off though! Fix it immediately!) It'll certainly be a good place to point people who need a quick, shiny explanation of the game.

I do kind of feel like something's lost with the navigation bar being eliminated- namely, access to the forums. That could significantly cut into this community's relevance to the overall game. Something to keep in mind.

13  Boring Stuff / Tech Support / Re: API key on: April 15, 2014, 08:46:50 AM
None of the stuff on google play are currently tapping the HvZSOURCE site. As for the status of the API... we've finished the read-only portion of the API. Before we can push it live, we have to set up the OAuth stuff to handle the API key authentication.
14  Boring Stuff / Tech Support / Re: Changing Number of Tags on: April 15, 2014, 08:44:54 AM
It is probably a caching error on in our code rather than a bug on your game. I would disregard until we have a second to look at it.
