Hey look, train tracks! Over there!

Anyways, the Tek Recon line has hit kickstarter (or rather, been there for about a week or so): http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/graemebissett/tek-recon-the-first-real-life-video-game
And a link to their youtube page, which shows the promo videos as well as how to load the ammo into the blaster and a firing demonstration of the Hammerhead:
http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCm-RoEL0bWNG8JXsXLr47nw/videos

Other then the lack of spamming shots (which could still be possible, just not shown in the demonstrations) and recovering the NRG rounds being less than ideal, these blasters seem like they could make a name for themselves in HvZ. Dual-wielding pistols with 25 rounds each that are smaller than the Stryfe? Sounds awesome.

To be honest, I'm looking forward to these more then I am the Centurion and Rapidstrike.
2  Organizing / Organizing & Starting Games / Re: First game and mission ideas? on: May 21, 2013, 07:24:55 AM
We've done something similar in our past games, but not to that extreme.

In one, there was a reward for either side to win. If humans won, they received a one hour grace period during the peak lunch hour the following day. If zombies won, they could only be stunned by socks for that same hour during lunch. Only resulted in a tag or two, but worked without complaints.

In a different game, we limited the first night mission to 6 shots out of a blaster + however many socks players wanted to carry. They could still use the blasters they bought - just not to their full capacity. It worked okay, but we didn't have enough players to fully take advantage of it.
3  Playing / Equipment & Toys / Re: Favorite Blaster in Particular? on: March 07, 2013, 12:43:02 PM
My favorite blaster currently is the Pyragon, but I don't go as far as naming them. The Stryfe is also a nice sidearm.

Which seems to imply they're going to have to make an elite specter. I wonder if it'll be upgraded...
Except that the Stockade was confirmed to be a Walmart exclusive. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought I remember reading something on that.

Is there a rough schedule going to be available or will that be revealed the day of? How exactly does a break for food work? Looking at getting a group together from Lindenwood to travel and would like to have everything prepped in advance.
6  Playing / Equipment & Toys / Re: The Nerf New Gun Thread, 2013 edition on: February 10, 2013, 12:54:30 AM
disc guns (still banned from my campus).
Why is that, anyways?

Not sure how I feel about the Revonix until I see it in action. From the preliminary looks, my Pyragon won't be going anywhere (although having a Vortex shotgun as a secondary would be kinda cool...).
7  Organizing / Fight for Your Right (to Party) / Re: Sandy Hook and Banning Nerf Blasters on: February 08, 2013, 06:53:15 PM
What about students running around playing a pick-up game of football or soccer? Is that banned too? :/ Heck, are students running not allowed? I know people who jog here for exercise or run when late to a class. Try pointing out how ridiculous the idea is. Make it public knowledge about what will be happening on the campus so everyone is informed.

Most of all, be patient. It might not happen this semester, but they'll get over the scare of a shooting if you give it time.
8  Playing / Equipment & Toys / Re: What I've been working on (Custom MOLLE chest rig, custom Nerf pouches) on: February 07, 2013, 10:41:30 PM
Have you considered a pouch for Vortex clips?
9  Organizing / Organizing & Starting Games / Re: Currency Systems: What are your usual rewards and costs? on: January 09, 2013, 07:32:29 PM
Lindenwood will be trying its very first game with a currency system this coming spring. We're basing it off of Berea's game:
http://forums.humansvszombies.org/index.php/topic,5724.msg58425.html#msg58425

Here's our version:

Shop Times: 12-1 and 4-5
Shop is available in The Connection (a central point on Lindenwood's Campus)
Shop will be overseen by Moderators

Tokens are poker chips we have laser engraved to be distinct.
Players may pool tokens together for group buying of items.
Humans get tokens at the end of a mission debrief for attending.
Zombies get a token for every tag they make.
Humans may not bribe Zombies for their lives.
The price of an item is subject to change daily. (For this, we'll roll a D6. 1 or 2, item goes down by 1 token. 3 or 4, item remains the same. 5 or 6, item goes up by 1 token. The price listed is the starting price for the week. Dart-throwing bracelets don't change.).
Players may sell an item back to the shop for its current price. This means players can actually speculate on the market to earn tokens.
Items are not transferable.

Human:

Armor:
(yellow athletic penny - like those used in gym class)
Zombies must make a two-hand tag on this Human or perform two simultaneous tags from multiple Zombies.
Cost: 5 tokens
Max: 8-12 available (depending on # of players

Dart-Throwing Bracelet:
(white rope tied around the wrist)
Humans can throw darts as though they were socks.
Cost: 1 token
Max: as many as you want, really.

Sentry Gun:
Stationary NPC wielding nerf blasters (still need to determine these, but probably something in the high-capacity range). Can't move or reload unless a Human has one hand on them. If tagged, is broken and must be repaired. Repair is done when a Human puts a hand on a broken Sentry Gun for 10 seconds. Can swap gear with players.
Cost: 10 tokens
Max: 1 per mission

Additional Safe Zone:
Pavilion (central point in a busy academic section of campus)
For 1 Day: 30 tokens
Permanent: 50 tokens

Antidote:
Prevents Zombie Infection Once (keeps the human alive from one tag. They’re out of play for 15 minutes while the antidote is in use).
Cost: 100 Tokens
Max: unlimited

- The antidote really should never be bought, its more of a 'Well, you CAN buy an Antidote if you really want to...'

Zombie:

Plaguespreader Class:
(green penny worn in addition to Zombie bandanna)
This Zombie can make one-handed tags on Armored Humans. When this Zombie tags any dead Human, that Human enters the game as a Zombie in 15 minutes instead of an hour. If that dead Human has less than 15 minutes on their conversion timer, this effect does not override it. Also halves out of play time during missions.
Cost: 5 tokens
Max: 5

Reaper Class:
(two red pool noodle sections cut to two and half feet in length)
This Zombie's noodles count as hands for making tags and are stunned when shot/socked in them. This Zombie can make one-handed tags on Armored Humans.
Cost: 5 tokens
Max: 7

Overlord Class:
(a single length of neon blue pool noodle)
This Zombie can reduce the stun time of any stunned Zombie it touches to 5 minutes. This ability is not active while stunned. This Zombie can make tags with its noodle as though were its hand and can be stunned if shot/socked in it. This Zombie can make one-handed tags on Armored Humans.
Cost: 8 tokens
Max: 2

Slender-Zombie:
(wears a red tie; white facemask is optional)
Can’t get stunned. Can't make normal tags. A two-handed tag removes one human from the mission for 15 minutes. Removed human can’t be tagged and can’t stun zombies. After 15 minutes, the human and Slender-Zombie can return to play. Only one per mission.
Cost: 12 Tokens
Max: 1 per mission

We're also going to be looking at offering side missions for humans. As humans get turned, any tokens they own then join the zombie's pool, so we feel that the token count on the zombie's side won't be an issue in terms of earning tokens. Regardless, each earning will only be one token.

If you'd like to give feedback on any of these, go for it. We're in uncharted territory as well.

EDIT: Here's a map of Lindenwood's campus. The Shop is located at in the bottom floor of #18. The Pavilion is located in the center of the field around 6, 7, 9 and 10.

The Triad, on the other hand, is nice, but I just don't see it as being enough of an improvement over a Jolt.  The priming handle is a bit awkward and I wouldn't want to use a two-handed blaster that only holds three darts.  As a backup or a possible integration, however, it's a very nice inexpensive blaster.
The priming handle can be rotated, making it a lot more friendly to dual-wielding. You can then use your middle and ring fingers holding one blaster to prime the other because the orientation is facing the right way.

As far as the Diatron...bleh. I guess one of these blasters had to be unimpressive at some point, so now I know which one. Definitely not going to be picking that up.
11  Playing / HvZ Tactics / Re: Rusher tactics??? on: December 10, 2012, 09:43:31 PM
You could, but best case scenario is you stunning 40 zeds and then needing to reload. This is assuming you hit a zed every time you pull the trigger or go full-auto.
It also depends on his game size. Being able to stun 40 zeds during one mission should be enough to survive, even if you're playing the role of breaking up ambushes (running in front of your squad and spamming darts into the massive horde, leaving a few straggelers for your squad to finish up).
12  Playing / Equipment & Toys / Re: What I've been working on (Custom MOLLE chest rig, custom Nerf pouches) on: December 10, 2012, 09:40:51 PM
I quite like the crossdraw holster. It's adjustable, so it'll fit other similarly sized sidearms. I'd like to nab a firestrike and try that out, but it looks like it'd fit cleanly.
The only size difference is the plunger rod (arm? hook you pull to load it...thingamajig) sticks out a bit farther. Otherwise, the size is nearly identical.

I'm also adding my name to the list of wanting to purchase some gear. I haven't invested in a rig or vest yet, but it looks like that is about to change with your creations. Keep up the great work and make sure you inform us of if/when these are for sale.

My Walmart had Firestrikes in a bin next to some Mavericks and Protons in a stand-alone display (away from the nerf section). They're retailing at $9.99, which I feel is a bit much, but man is this blaster amazing. So much power behind it, and the size is great. Totally worth it for me. Here's the item line that rings up on the receipt:

NER NS FSBLS 065356972061

The back of the box also advertises the Stryfe (but nothing else).

What exactly was the mission?
15  General / Multimedia / Re: Animator looking for Zombie ideas... li'l help? on: November 29, 2012, 12:26:09 PM
"C's on strike!" XD I love it. Quite enjoyable and entertaining.

Are you interested in doing Humans vs. Zombies ones? I'm sure we could give you a ton of suggestions/ideas for situations that always happen.

Also, out of curiosity, how long did it take you to make that one?
