Steve, you hit it right on the head with that statement. I just finished reading through all of these tenets and I am so happy that other people have taken up the good work! Every one of these Tenets is a work of art by its own rights. Congrats are in order for everyone who has helped write/critic/update the tenets. Who knows, maybe one day there will be a HvZ strategy guide with each of these included. Wouldn't that be something? XD

Mad props to your Magstrike Tenets, Steve. Mad Props indeed!
4  Playing / Equipment & Toys / Re: Ghillie suits? on: June 17, 2010, 10:27:16 PM
BGUNDEAD (HvZ at BGSU in Ohio) had a player who made his own ghillie suit and wore it during evening/night play.  Worse, after he was turned, he loaned it to another zed who, even legally wearing a neon green bandanna, was damned-near invisible in many places after dark.

No problems with the suit were ever reported, but that probably has to do with the fact that the two players who wore it didn't move much (and were thus not noticeable by the regular public).

LOL, the day that xanthe sat in the bush for 4 hours in the ghillie suit just to get teddy, was a good day.

10  General / HvZ General / Re: Hoods as zombies? on: February 18, 2010, 09:17:16 AM
At Pitt we have players wear their bandannas such that they are visible from all angles, or in the case of humans all angles except when blocked by the player's torso.  We also have many players who prefer to use stealth to avoid zombies rather than carry large arsenals and take on dozens.  Because of this players will often wear clothing that matches the color of the bandanna, but since we have a single color chosen for each game it doesn't pose much of an issue.

Some of you seem to think disguises are a bit unsportsmanlike, but allowing such things just gives players another way to be creative.  Not everyone comes to this game for the same reasons, and limiting what players can do will just limit the player base.

I myself have completed a mission unarmed by merely wearing a shirt that matched my bandanna.  Another player survived the same mission by carrying around a camera and taking pictures of all the zombies.  He would even walk up and talk to them without them even attempting to tag him.

When people are stupid enough to trust their instincts on what they see, without questioning whether or not they see correctly it is their own fault when failure is the result.   Our players don't lie when disguised or stealthy, they just know that people will mislead themselves and they take advantage of it.  It's no different than a faster player being able to outrun all the zombies, players will do what comes naturally to them, and for some that's running and for others it's misinformation.

i agree with everything said here:

1: bandana should be VISIBLE at ALL TIMES!
2: if wearing a hoodie bandana must be worn ON TOP
3: if one has long hair, hair must not cover bandana

the only thing i disagree with on here is calling the blending DBAD... that is in no way d-bad.. the bandana is very visible... and it is absolutely wrong for anyone to say "YOU CANNOT WEAR THAT COLOUR!"

if someone can blend in... im all for that, be it human or zombie.  and is definintly NOT DBAD..

infact, im finding that the term DBAD is being taken way out of context more and more, as im sure any mod will tell you... there are DBAD calls LEFT and RIGHT but half of them arnt even real DBADs....

DBAD = DONT BE A DICK

Tagging someone who just fell on the ground, allbeit completely legit, is a dick move.. hence the DBAD... (usualy this also coincides with injury)
Tackling someone while playing a game with strict NO TACKLING rules is a DBAD

Wearing a bandana ON TOP of a hoodie that is the same colour.. altho sneaky... is NOT a dick move..

this thread makes me all warm and fuzzy inside Smiley
13  Playing / Equipment & Toys / Re: The Vulcans Tenets on: February 15, 2010, 05:32:26 AM
i would not recommend using a REAL ammo box as the weight of the box itself would just be way to heavy... and put extra strain on ones arms and shoulders just trying to hold the blaster...

I condone this request for another moderator challenge!
