The Athens, Ohio chapter of Humans Versus Zombies is hosting its 3rd annual weekend-long open invitational game.

We play our own unique style of HvZ, and we are very excited to share it with all of you.
Athens has been playing HvZ since 2006, and has evolved its own rule set and style of game play. Our rules are likely different than your own game, so we encourage everyone to read our rules page.
http://hvzathens.com/rules/

To attend our invite, we ask that you please fill out a registration form. A housing request form will be available closer to the game, however space will be extremely limited. It is recommended you try and arrange your own sleeping arrangements. Some info on local hotels can be found here.

Ain't no invite like an HvZ:Athens Invite because an HvZ:Athens invite has-

  • Off campus play in a town with scary tight alleyways
  • Play on the stairs, climb walls, we don't give a fuck.
  • Zombies respawn in waves.
  • Tried and tested special zombies.
  • The missions don't start at 8am, they end at 4am.
  • Very attractive and slightly friendly moderators. Well, slightly attractive and very friendly, you can't have everything.

So there's really no excuse. Come on down, nerds.

Please tell me there are some amazing tags/survivals because of this rule being a thing.

Please tell me there are some amazing tags/survivals because of this rule being a thing.

There are some amazing ambush spots throughout the campus and uptown area where the event occurs. Thats one of the reasons the game is so great, is it is not confined to just a small area. There are a few off limit places, but the entire campus and town itself are all active. Tarp Alley and the like give paranoia a whole new level.

Another great thing is Athens HvZ is an immersive game. There are no "down time". Once the game starts, there are no dinner breaks. You need ammo? Go to Walmart. But remember, it's game on everywhere. You can be tagged in the parking lot.

The game begins after the 10pm meeting Friday night. It then runs until after the final mission Saturday night. Basically wraps up by about midnight Saturday. There is technically gameplay through the entire Friday night, though most people kinda tucker out by 3 or 4 am, and come back out 9ish on Saturday.

And you can come and go as you please during the invite. There are no forced timings or starvation.

There is no waiver for minors. This is a public event that everyone is free to attend, but minors should be getting permission from their parent/guardian. We take no responsibility for any players who choose to attend.

The youngest player I have seen was 8. He had his mom following him around as he played. The oldest i know of was in their 60's. The game is a pretty inclusive event, good from newbies to vets. The Invitational is geared entirely for the put of town guests, with everyone pitching in to make it as fun as possible.

During one of the weeklong games the Mods rented out the ice rink, and we even had HvZ on Ice event.

Ruling on the Z-Curve bow? Finalizing my loadout.

EDIT: Gameday. We'll roll with it, I suppose. Good luck to all.

Folks, if you ever get a chance to play at Athens, do it. Completely worth the 8-hour drive from Missouri, and I know we'll be back. Props to Ben, his crew, and all the players. You rock. Rush and the Boys, out.
