I'm not organizing the event, but I haven't seen anything about it on here yet, so here:

UMBC is once again holding a spring invitational, and it will be on Saturday, May 3.

You can find information at the website (http://umbchvz.com/invitational), the Facebook event (https://www.facebook.com/events/235480793290296/) or by emailing the officers at [email protected].

As the only (known) forum-registered user from UMBC, I can say that the invitational is going to be EPIC!  I filmed the event last year and I'll be doing it again this year.  Check out the video and make sure you're there.  They'll be organizing temporary housing on and off campus, so don't worry if your drive is too long to make it in the morning.

As the only (known) forum-registered user from UMBC

I'm a UMBC alumna (and former officer of the club), and I know of at least a few other forum-registered users from UMBC!  I'm guessing they're just not particularly active.

Speak for yourself, love. =P

evands: Loved your creativity putting together that camera rig last year. The vid turned out great, btw. ^.^

Not yet sure how this year's invitational is going to go down, but I expect a good showing from some of our more legendary players who've since graduated. Don't think I can reveal too much more than that, as I don't want the admins shifting the balance too far in one direction on account of us.

But honestly...I'm pretty thrilled that none of us know anything this year, so no one will have to hold back or adjust their play. It's going to be spectacular.

(Note: I am no longer an officer or an especially active player, but I've played since the before there was an official club; was instrumental in bringing about a (local) renaissance during my time as both a player and admin; helped design and establish the underlying organizational infrastructure that has persisted in the club to this day; wrote our first two Invitationals, ran the second one, and inspired the third; have set a stupid number of (local) records and performed feats not yet bested on both the humans and zombie side [so far as I know].)

Glad you liked it!  I've upgraded my equipment since then...

That's a glidecam rig that makes camera movement crazy smooth, and I have a Hero2 with a LCD screen backpack mounted on a quick release on the top.  I also have two 32GB memory cards for it and two extra batteries to go all day without charging or clearing space for more footage.  In addition to that, I have a 1080p Sony Handicam on my old rig as backup, and a Nerf-tac-rail-mounted mini camera that can record in 720p for about an hour.  This year's video is going to be epic.
