Our school has always had a policy that states if an event is after 4, you need an organization advisor. Our HvZ is outside only so that has always bypassed this rule. This semester however we found out that there is no policy but now they want to put in place a policy that would require even outside events to have an advisor which would effect all of our late night missions and other games we play on campus. The simple answer is get an advisor but since we are such a tiny school, faculty and staff often go home and we are SOL.

Does anybody have any other experience with this type of situation or perhaps examples of policies that do not require advisor supervision? We are attempting to put together a petition against any such policy but some outside help would be appreciated.

If the petition fails, I recommend filing for an exemption to the policy for your game, as its no different then a group of students getting together and tossing a football around (granted, more people and play is everywhere, but its a similar idea).

Are there any professors really into the game? I just found out that the Computer Science department follows HvZ here pretty closely and had no idea previously that they did. Do you have an intramurals department that might have someone who could volunteer as the advisor? Lindenwood's HvZ is set up as an independent group 'sponsored' by Intramurals so we don't have to worry about all of the organization-related things.
