No it's not Smiley. It will always say that it's spam with a URL like that (see the /spam,true.html#new) part.

One of my posts has been marked as spam, and now I don't seem to be able to post at all. The post was in this thread. When I first posted it, the words "This post was marked a spam" appeared in large red letters next to the title. As I had mentioned a certain brand of LiIon cell by name, and thought that that might be the problem, I edited the post - and it disappeared. I tried posting again without the potentially offending brand name and found that none of my new posts show up on that thread.

So, I'm not sure whether this will show up here. Let's see.

EDIT: I think I've figured out what is going on: none of my new posts are showing up on the aforementioned thread because they are being merged with the one which is marked as spam. Now, I'll try to see if there is a way to edit (or delete) the post which was first marked as spam.

EDIT: There does not seem to be a way to edit or delete the post that was marked as spam. Oddly, although it does not show up when I view the thread and does not appear with my other posts on my profile, it does show up (with my subsequent posts merged) when I use the "print" link at the bottom of the page and underneath the text box on the reply page.

I just approved the post that was flagged as spam and edited some of the merged in information. That's a weird issue. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Thanks for approving my post so quickly. What I see on the thread's print page, the thread's reply page, and my profile now matches what I see in the thread.

For future reference, are posts marked as spam are supposed to remain visible to, and editable by, the poster? (Hence the "weird issue" when mine didn't, right?)

There are several users on this thread who have been repeatedly false-positived by Akismet - and usually for quite informative posts, too! Have ham reports been submitted as appropriate after each false positive?

This is the first case that I've seen posts get merged into post. Anyway, to answer your question, this is the system to report a false positive. I check this thread whenever I jump on the forums. I'd rather have a few false positives a month than the thousands of spam posts that we get Smiley.

Akismet has a system for reporting false positives (and another for reporting false negatives). See:

http://akismet.com/development/api/#submit-ham
http://akismet.com/development/api/#submit-spam

This is what I was talking about when I asked if you submit ham reports. Akismet encourages websites to submit these reports, presumably because the feed them into a learning algorithm to better filter spam in the future. I suspect that submitting proper ham reports would lower your false positive rate over time.

On the other hand, a couple false positives a month isn't too bad, and (going by the posts on this thread) you have consistently done a great job of fixing each one quickly.

This is the first case that I've seen posts get merged into post.

My posts have always merged automatically whenever I post multiple times to a thread with no other user's posts in between. Do you mean that this is the first case where you've seen a post merged with a flagged post? A similar thing seems to have happened to mcknightchris back in 2011 (first page of this thread).
