Caught something interesting at yet another target lately.

Am I not paying attention to the news on this front, or is this a new development? Looks to be the spitball/gel market is getting jealous of Nerf's tracer darts and NSE range boasts...

Roboman had a post on that on the Nerf Modders FB page. He got a tour/meeting with the company that makes those. More stuff will be coming out towards Xmas.

Boom! Headshot.

Well, not actually. There were four (I have the other one) at my target and with further investigation, prompted by darthrambo, there was no price tag for them on the shelves. When checking out, they had no record of them and did not show up on the scanner. The lady there said that she would put them up for five dollars each and now I have them. Note: results may vary so don't waste your time looking at other retailers than the ones listed.

More triggerless gel ball launchers from this company (Maya Group?) spotted at Target!

Wait, what? RETALIATOR? Do I see a nuclear oil hurricane of a legal battle coming or is that me just overestimating Hasbro's aggressiveness on this stuff?

On another front...
http://bazookafied.blogspot.com/2012/09/out-with-new-in-with-old.html

Bazookafied's REPLACEMENT OMW Massacre Longstrike bolt failed. Same deal, lug tore off. This was a 5kg spring.

Watch those massacre parts like a hawk. Be careful not to trust them too much, and always bring your tools and spares if you run something with them in it! And if you are considering buying them now, I wouldn't - a whole NSE gun is cheaper than kitting an existing Raider or Recon and far superior to using this stuff.

OMW, you need to get back on your game, and my advice if you can see this is that the polycarbonate was never a good idea. It's the wrong material for the application.

The same break happened to my OMW Longstrike Massacre set but it was only after my friend dry fired it like 10 times. Is that a common break for OMW Massacre sets, or is it just something brought upon by excessive dry firing?

It's common failure mode for these bolts and doesn't seem to be affected by dryfires. Gun in blog was owned by someone who takes care of his gear. He probably rarely dryfired that one. He also had an xplorer RFLG so I doubt there is anything with twisting of the bolt carrier and lug at fault here. The LK massacre bolts in particular seem hit the hardest, but I have seen alpha bolts die as well. They are weak and poorly designed. It's a combination of factors that the lug/feed guide failure can be traced to, including feed guide length and all the sharp corners in that stress area to send cracks back toward the lug over time until it fails, but the root cause of the durability problems with massacre is that OMW went for a material (PC) that the NIC is inexplicably obsessed with but is probably not the ideal choice for many of these parts, and then mostly duplicated the stock bolts and carriers feature for feature without any serious structural redesign.

I know of 5 documented kabooms EXACTLY like this one and at least 3 other massacre bolt breakage incidents. And that is only the tiny fraction of the community that doesn't just post/say nothing and chalk it up to defective parts and get OMW to replace them.

Seeing as I've been waiting months for a certain blaster to hit stores, I had no intention of using it for HVZ until I considered the possibilities of using something that would fit quite well into the 'skirmishers' role. I personally detest the idea of gel shooters, spit-wad slingers, and pretty much anything non-foam as a whole because of the mess and lack of availability/popularity among other HVZers. I am now looking to change that since the Vapor Delta 500 was released, considering it has some real perks that nerf may never have. It is a water pellet shooter and I'm not afraid to admit wanting to use it atleast one full game! Grin Some things to notice about it from videos and reviews:
-Lighter ammo/built in ammo magazine/storage
-Up to 80' ranges
-Minimal spread with ammo,quite accurate
-100round capacity
-Cheap premade ammo(10$ for 1,000rounds, no need for presoaking Roll Eyes)
-Actually haz trigger!!!!!!11!!oneoneeleven11
And most importantly...
-Extremely reliable

I see this thing providing something special to any regular skirmishers arsenal since you can shoot it 100times before you need to reload. Its simple drop-in pellets mag seems like any plastic waterbottle with a nozzle could be a perfect way to store and refill the blaster. I doubt this being able to replace certain foam shooters, but its pump action reliability seems reminiscent of an elite alpha trooper if there ever was one.
Overall, thoughts/comments/flames?

With the samples I got I didn't experience too many jams, the pistol aka Atlas 250, that's another story.

Does anyone else look at the vapor and see "pump-action longshot"?

It seems they took their pistol and improved the design enough into a rifle. I commend them for actually evolving their designs and improving on them so soon.

I see one as well. I like the placement of the tact rail, instead of it being elevated on the handle of the blaster. The shell also reminds me of a crossbow...
