There are plenty of people on this forum that have played in games, and I am sure that there are dozens of moderators as well.  However, there are also people who come to these forums and have not played a game, many of whom wish to start one at their school.  So for all of you who participate actively in your HvZ games, what is some of your best advice to the future players of HvZ?

I learnt this in the first game I ever took part in:

Never assume that everyone made it out ok. You may end up alone, backed up against a 6 and a half foot tall bush by 12 zombies, trying to dual wield Tek Tens, which by the way, is always a bad idea.

On the bright side, having your own epic last stand is one of the most thrilling experiences you could have in the game, even if you don't make it out as a human. Cheesy

Have a good storyline.
Make sure you have socks!
Make sure everyone knows the rules.
Be sure to refer to them as "Nerf dart blasters", not guns, and "darts", not bullets.

reliability and quick reloading are probably the greatest assets u can have in a gun
always have a blowgun. U never know when youl need that 60 foot range

their is such a thing as too many guns....but not if they are in a perfect loadout. if you want to use more guns make sure that you make a great deployment and retraction system for them (as in a place to put them when your finished using them)

Finallly, remember to exercise and don't get stupid.

There will always be people who only want to play human and quit after they have been turned. It's lame, they're lame, but there's not a damn thing you can do about it. I call it the protagonist complex. Once people get tagged and they realize they aren't an invincible protagonist like in the movies their fragile egos shatter into a million pieces and they quietly and bitterly withdraw from the game.

the flip side of that is players who don't want to even try to be human and kill themselves the first night out so they can be zombie for almost the entire game.

those how we got 50 kills in the first night because a HUGE number of people decided to kill themselves early on....making for a very hard mission Tuesday night when 60 zombies attacked the group of humans I was with.

needless to say many of us felt like it was a major cop out for people to just suicide so early in the game....but as Granito said....what can u do?

fortunately a lot of players who thought it was no fun to be human found out how wicked it can be to be a human in out HvZ skirmishes..so hopefully we wont have as many  outright suicides.....but hey....once again..what can u do?

Remember the point is to have fun. It's not to win, it's not to have the best score, it's to have fun. The best way to do that is to throw yourself fully into your role as both Human and Zombie.

Try for those epic last stands, be daring, look for those loopholes that the moderators intentionally left. Be creative as much as you can. That's where the great stories come from.

Don't forget to bring a towel.

Also, socks > blasters in most cases. And the less you use, the more bragging rights you have.
