Liberty university's policies explicitly ban "Involvement with witchcraft, séances or other satanic or demonic activity," as well as something they call, "horseplay," which could either relate to bestiality or games like HvZ.

In short, I don't think our game is a good match for your school.

P.S. Personal curiosity here: Does your school allow interracial dating? I thought it was banned but a Google search yielded inconclusive results.

That is the point I was getting at, but it sounds like they have this covered.

As far as interracial dating, you're thinking of Bob Jones University. They dropped that policy in 2000 and officially apologized in 2008.

That is great to hear. What about kissing? Does Liberty U. allow kissing?

Yes, but only if you kiss your girlfriend like you'd kiss your sister. <Insert 'You Know You're A Redneck' Joke Here>

We're getting a tad off topic.

So, is the game a go, or are there still problem areas?

It seems like they (the school) want to run the game... Is that a good or bad thing? From what Wikipedia tells me, you have a paintball field on campus, so it seems like liability isn't going to be a problem.

They are open to it...really it wont be a go until it gets on the calendar. I need to talk to the event planners at SA before we can say anything is "go". I dont necessarily think its a bad thing because having the Student Activities department interested at this point is a major step forward. I can talk to a friend and get a meeting set up with the Chancellor...word is that if he gives the green light for something...it WILL happen

Revival!!!
I just stumbled upon HvZ and totally think this should come to LU! We have to modify the rules just to comply with the Liberty Way and also increase our chances of getting approval. However, especially with the price of darts these days, I feel we can get a squad started for the barrier of entry of simply a nerf gun and maybe 5$ so we can get a bulk order of the bandannas. Please respond, this could be so awesome!

I am a 3 year HvZ veteran at my current university and I should be attending LU in the fall ocnce I graduate from LU (LOL, figure that out) as I am a Lynchburg local and was thinking about setting up a game when I went to Liberty, if I could. It seems like something has already been started. If you need help I know a bit about some of the problems that games can have and a bit on how to remedy them. I have not been an admin or mid, but I know one mod here well and an admin/president of the Rural Gaming Club which hosts HvZ.

Is OP still at Liberty and trying to get a game set up or is there one coming soon to the reviver?

Dr.
On behalf of the newly formed LU HvZ team, I would love to welcome you aboard as a coordinator of the game. We have so far had one meeting and are looking to post a game for next semester, since the ability to form a game this semester is looking bad. We hope to form the game this semester and begin with "teaser" advertisement. After making sure we have a significant student backing, we hope to host an excellent game next semester before it gets to cold to play outside.
I also assume you are graduating from a different "LU" before coming here? Either way, the team would be glad to have you.
Again welcome and we look forward to working with you in the future.

If you cannot get a full game going, you can have mini games. For our school, this involves informing the police that we will be playing at one of our fields from this time to this time, which ever it is. This is good for practice and also draws interest to games. For us we will sometimes have only a handful of regulars, because of the number, stun times are between 5 and 10 seconds, but a minute or more can be used if there are a lot of players. Players who survive till the end are OZ's next round. I am more heavy set so for players like me a small power up is given like being a spitter (sock throwing Zombie) or taking multiple shots to stun, which yesterday was 3 and we would loose our power up when we got someone so we made people waste ammo before finally tagging someone.

One thing I would like to stress, universal bandanas of a single colore, orange is best as it is not a gang color and used for caution. If you need to save funds you can go to Wal-Mart or Micheal's and get orange fabric to craft into bandannas.

Do you know what types of Dart Blasters will be allowed?

Well to my knowledge there are no restrictions yet so long as they don't resemble an actual gun. I really like those special rules and I think we can decide on those prior to the game start, since right now I have a "campaign specific rules" clause in the ruleset. I am also a huge fan of the unified color concept. I think I'm going to add that to the ruleset and hopefully we can use that to help when we go and pitch the idea to the school later this semester. Thanks for the ideas!

A fun way to start a game is to have multiple OZ's (keep one secrete until later), start with a 2 minute stun timer, and have a mandatiry meeting the day before the game would usually start (say Thursday evening if the game starts on Friday) and start as soon as the overview of the rules and whatnot is finished. Humans are paranoid and zombies a become fearless.

That sounds really cool. A guy on my hall has a series of plot-twist cards that we use for Pathfinder, and I feel like some mechanic like that could add a new dimension of play. My hope for this first game is to introduce a simple, vanilla game in order to give the school a taste of how the game is played. After that, the council of mods can introduce new concepts to the story, and we can definitely grow from there.

Indeed, I was thinking that I would try and fail to get a game started at Liberty mostly because of the zombie and dart blaster thing. Glad to hear they are being cool about this and will look forward to future games. I have about a good 6 year future at Liberty (masters/doctorate) so it should be fun. Guess HvZ is getting more and more popular eh?

One idea I had would be to try to get the Administration to allow players that do not go to Liberty. You have about 3 high schools and 2 other colleges within a 20 minute drive of Liberty Campus. CVCC is right across the street almost and I do not think they have the campus size to handle HVZ, at least not a large game like Liberty would.

This especially works if you are doing a 3 day game which I am assuming would start on Friday.

By any chance do you know how they feel about games being co-ed and night missions?

That I believe is where we as a group are going to have to draw the line. As far as night missions we have a curfew here and unless a student signs out to stay later, we feel obligated to respect that rule. This is mainly because we want to be able to play within the boundaries of the school, and not cause trouble. Co-ed missions may depend on your definition. If you mean guys and girls working collectively on a mission in a common area, no problem. However, we've declared the dorms as safe zones again to abide by the school code known as the Liberty Way.
