Ahoy kids.

Slippery Rock University's UGC has decided to host our first Eat the Flag tournament on the weekend of September 30. Eat the Flag is a variant of Capture the Flag that integrates the rules of HvZ. We will be able to host pretty much anyone, but please contact me if you wish to attend. I am extremely excited to see friends from Penn State, Ithaca, Longwood, RIT, and other universities again-- so it would be most clutch if everyone showed. :3

Rules for Eat the Flag...
I originally saw another user post this two or three years ago on the boards, but naturally you have two teams wearing armbands. We use freeze tag rules for Capture/Eat the Flag at SRU-- so let us say we have Mr. Sklover and he shots Mr. Mortara, then Mr. Mortara cannot move until another player grabs him and counts to 3 (uttered slowly, One Mississippi, Two Mississipi, etc).
We begin with one OZ, and the OZ turns players from either team into a ZED by tagging them naturally. The stun timer is 2 minutes, and the incubation timer is 4 minutes. (Please note that all the numbers are subject to change-- I am trying to find the best way to balance this.)
The humans obviously win when they capture the other team's flag. The ZEDs win if they tag all of the humans. I will post a more detailed version of the rules at a later date.
We will most likely randomly assign people to teams-- I know everyone enjoys playing with their friends, but I feel as if random teams will promote friendship and stifle any anger that arises from hypercompetitiveness.

Rough Schedule...
Thursday: People can come hang out at SRU, if they really want. But I will probably sit around and drink alone, while listening to Katy Perry.
Friday: People should show, we will hold a meeting to review the rules. Shenanigans ensue.
Saturday: We will host a meeting early for those who missed the one on Friday. We play excessive amounts of EtF, and then do one giant game at the end of the day.
Sunday: People leave, giving their new friends highfives and junk.

So are there three sides, then?  Two human and the zeds?

What weapons/mods are allowed?

Are you up to allowing players that are not in college?

Anyone can come-- but if you are not with a university, then housing will not be guaranteed, but we will still probably be able to find a place for you to stay, so don't worry.

At SRU for blasters we allow most modifications, as long as they are not dangerous, but we will need to approve any modified blasters. As for external modifications (paint and crap) we do not want anything looking remotely realistic.

And yes, there are 2 teams of Humans fighting each other in CTF, and then there will be an OZ. Not sure how we are going to pick OZ's yet, but I have the whole summer to figure that out. It'll probably be a volunteer from a neutral team.

Unfortunately at SRU we cannot change the date, and we are disappointed that many people from Athens and BG will not attend. It wil be a relaxing time filled with merriment.

It is the weekend after ours, so it's still very possible some of us will be able to make it. Don't give up on us just yet!
