when does the design for the 1994 crossbow leak into public domain? When someone draws them down. It's been out for so long and it's an easy system. As for outside, tweak it and then it won't be illegal.

Yeah, fix the handle, remove the top barrel, give it an o-ring seal and give it a PVC coupler I'd buy that

Airzone is (was?) producing an Arrowstorm clone. Perhaps an AZxbow is possible...

How long do patents hold out for again? I know after a while it becomes legal to use someone elses patent. But, honestly, just change things around, make t up to date. Make the stock, cocking handle, grip and body slightly different and it'll be legal. Keep up with the plunger style and the modders will come in and do the rest.

A Patent on a design should last for 20 years. The nerf crossbow's patent ends sometime between 2012 and 2015. Well this interesting... the Patent for the Raider drum, with a plot twist.

Interestingly the drum is also to the right of the clip section in the photo, not the left like it is in production...

Get Lulzsec to hack us some info XD Back on topic, I'd love to see some internals, seeing how they might be different from the other Airzone 8s... or not

Strange... I see now that I was wrong on several counts about this gun. It's not just a repainted AZ 8, and it's not, strictly speaking, a Tek derivative like the AZ 8. Different plunger system, different cylinder seal... but it does have some Tek features (particularly the cylinder, which is obviously a Buzzbee pattern. It's reportedly like the older Teks with no real barrels, instead using pegs arrow-style, and it has the usual chamfered/rounded over barrel tips and slotted barrel design). Having seen that plunger system and the potential to do some flow and seal work that teks don't usually get along with the usual barrel job, I'm going to say 50 on stock spring with 2.5" barrels, 70 optimized with spring work, 4" barrels and stefans. If it all adds up, this thing should have potential.
