from what ive seen at my college allot of teachers may be in favor of the game, at my school we have teachers acting as NPCs for some missions(best mad scientist ever) and some dealing with organization of the game, as well as some teachers playing the game.

Our college president has a coffee with the president event where he listens to students, looking for opportunities to show higher ups in the administration the positive sides of the game never hurts.

the news here has been slow lately so the news paper was more than happy to run a story about the game, the article was very positive about the game(on the front page of the paper(not college paper)).  showing the community whats going on and informing them about it is very useful, you may not get the placement quite as good as we got but still a good way to promote the game to the community.

not really useful but even the local police thought it was funny, apparently people have heard them make comments on their radios about swinging by the campus to see if they see any zombies.

the big thing ive seen with this is you have to get people at multiple levels supporting the game, it makes it much more likely to be accepted.

I like the idea of going for a ridiculously entertaining option like eyepatches to get around the bandanna issue, but maybe if you ensure they are a completely non-gang related colour like Thesreyn mentioned they might allow them. Oh and he left out neon pink  Tongue

A roll of plastic surveyor's tape is cheap, and should be enough for everybody. Obviously not gangland.

In terms of safety of the game, something we did here at ANU to get security's approval was to show them the levels we took with codifying safety principles into the rules, and we also offered to hold safety talks that were compulsory for all players.  It showed them our level of commitment to upholding their concerns and reduced their apprehension
Very good.
Maybe in the future, anybody who's trying to start a game should come prepared with tons of such data to overwhelm the more obvious objections.

In a post-Virginia Tech world, many things have changed and people are much more fearful for their safety.    Another major concern was the use of colored bandanas.  Students could be mistaken for gang members.

Post "Virginia Tech"?

I don't see how mass hysteria can occur from foam and yellow plastic - by the way the person is carrying on I wouldn't be suprised if they were offended by birthdays on 9/11...

The safety talks were compulsory for all players. Security didn't have too many issues with us during the week apart from some extreme examples.

Believe me: hysteria is possible, and no I will not elaborate at this time.
